Ski-Doo® Super Olympique snowmobile

Snowmobile

1968

This 1968 Ski-Doo® Super Olympique snowmobile is no ordinary vehicle, as it travelled to the North Pole. It was one of the 4 snowmobiles used on the 1968 Plaisted expedition and was driven by Joseph-Armand Bombardier’s nephew Jean-Luc Bombardier.

To meet the extreme demands of the expedition, the snowmobile was fitted with a backup gasoline tank on the hood and a shorter seat to free up storage space in the back.

This vehicle, known as Le Swinger no. 6, was emblazoned with Jean-Luc Bombardier’s name on each side of the hood. The odometer displays 1,328 kilometres, a sign of the impressive distance travelled during the historic polar expedition.
