In 1982, the company acquired the worldwide manufacturing and distribution rights from Volkswagen A.G. This vehicle is the first Iltis model, equipped with a turbo diesel engine and produced by Bombardier Inc. It was built to military specifications, with a 24-volt electrical system and an off-road driving capability of 4 km/h, or that of soldiers on foot. Although the frame was waterproof, the vehicle was not armoured or bulletproof.
