Mistissini Innu Ski-Doo® team cap
Accessory
1991
This bright fluorescent-yellow cap was worn by members of the Mistissini Innu Ski-Doo® team at the 1991 Harricana Raid. The captain, Johnny Swallow, and his teammates John Andrew Coon and Norman Coonishish were all members of the Mistissini Cree First Nation.
The front of the cap features Cree syllabics and a drawing of Lake Mistassini beside a beaver on a stretched hide.
Despite their determination, the Mistissini Innu Ski-Doo® team had to withdraw from the race due to mechanical failures. Nevertheless, their participation remains a living legacy of their drive and passion for snowmobiling.
