Parka belonging to Jean-Luc Bombardier
Clothing
1967
Parka worn by Jean-Luc Bombardier, Joseph-Armand’s nephew, during the 1968 Plaisted Polar Expedition. The team’s mission was to reach the North Pole by snowmobile. Jean-Luc Bombardier was the scout, driving a Ski-Doo® Super Olympique® snowmobile modified for the expedition. The parka was handmade to withstand the polar temperatures, and was of superior quality for its time. The fur around the hood is from a wolverine, a small animal from the Arctic regions of Europe and North America. On the coat, you can see patches of the American and Canadian flags representing the countries involved in the expedition.
