Prototype-print silk square scarf
Accessory
Circa 1990
This 100% silk square scarf, also known as a silk carré, was designed in the 1990s and sold at the Museum gift shop to honour the ingenious spirit of Joseph-Armand Bombardier.
The print features several iconic prototypes from the renowned inventor, including 1922, 1929, 1931 and 1934 models as well as the iconic B12 snowmobile.
The silk square took the fashion world by storm in 1937, when the prestigious French design house Hermès added it to its ready-to-wear collection. It has since remained a timeless and elegant accessory.
