Sensor and storage box
Object
Circa 1950
Sensor used to measure a deformation in the rotation axis of a mechanical shaft, e.g., an engine crankshaft or an axle. Materials: steel and glass.
Manufactured by B.C. Ames Co. in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States. The sensor and box are currently on display in the parts store at the Bombardier Garage, home to the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier’s multimedia room. The tool is stored in a wooden storage box, which appears to be original. It has a coat of grey paint and a Bombardier sticker on the lid.
