Two-stroke snowmobile engine
Mechanical part
1972
Here is the smallest three-cylinder engine ever manufactured by Rotax®. This 295 cc air-cooled engine generates 42 horsepower and runs on blended gasoline. It was developed shortly after Polaris launched its multicylinder engines. This engine was first tested on a race track with 1972 Ski-Doo® Blizzard® snowmobiles. It performed well in terms of speed, but did not provide fast enough acceleration when exiting a curve, making it less competitive on the track. Unfortunately, the engine did not prove as successful as anticipated.
